Car rental insurance can cover damage to cars and other property but it doesn't cover injuries you or your passengers sustain. First of all, the card comes with a car rental insurance called Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver. This insurance covers most rentals worldwide. This insurance is available to both authorized users and primary renters. This coverage is good for most rental vehicles and covers up to seventy thousand dollar.
You can also save money by using your Chase Sapphire Reserve card with rental car insurance. If you rent a car from a rental agency, they often charge you for collision coverage, which can be expensive. By using your Sapphire Reserve credit card with car rental insurance, you'll avoid paying for this coverage and save $15 or more per day.
American Express
You should enroll in American Express' car rental insurance if you have an American Express card. It is easy to log into your account online to select the coverage you desire. You will also need to select the card you will most likely use for the rental. Once you've signed up, there is no cost to rent your first car. If you do, the applicable premium insurance rate will be applied.
American Express offers two levels in car rental insurance coverage. The premium level includes primary coverage of up to $100,000. However, this plan is not applicable to rental cars in Israel, New Zealand, Jamaica, Australia, or Israel. It excludes vans and trucks over 10,000 pounds in gross vehicle weight, off-road vehicles, as well as vehicles older 20 years. This policy doesn't include vehicles rented directly from auto dealerships, moving businesses, or body shops.
Capital One Venture Rewards
If you frequently travel, a Capital One Venture Rewards credit card with car rental protection could be a good option. The card has no annual fee and offers decent rewards. The card offers travelers a range of travel protections including rental car insurance and emergency vehicle services. The card also offers two complimentary visits per year to Plaza Premium Lounges or Capital One. Capital One opened their first lounge at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) in 2017. Capital One offers virtual number and warranty protection for free.
The Capital One Venture offers a car rental insurance policy that covers physical damage and theft. This credit card also earns 5x miles for car rentals and hotel stays. Capital One Venture card allows you to redeem your miles at an agreed value. You can also use your miles to purchase an eraser tool that erases eligible purchases.
